James R. Davis

St. Johnsville - James R. Davis, 32 of the Town of St. Johnsville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 12, 2023.

He was born on January 27, 1991, in Florida, the son of Kelly (Oathout) and the late James Davis. James was a graduate of Oppenheim - Ephratah High School, class of 2009. He loved collecting Pokémon cards, making people laugh with his jokes, spending time with friends, family, his wife and children. One of his favorite jobs was when he was working was Chimney Heroes. James loved pointing out chimneys that needed repairs everywhere he went. He really had an eye for it. 

On June 29, 2013, he was united in marriage to Elaine McCarthy in the Town of Palatine. 

James was employed at Target Distribution Center in Amsterdam, NY.

Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Elaine; two sons, James William Lloyd Davis and Jaxyn Davis; two daughters, Freya Davis and Oaklie Davis; his mother, Kelly, a sister, Ladi Jo Davis; half brothers, Edward Ambrosino and Kyle Davis and wife Kourtney; a half sister, Mary Anne Oberneyer; maternal grandparents, Kirk and Jeanne Oathout, his in-laws, Todd and Nancy Kerzic; Patrick McCarthy and Erin Colleens, brothers-in-law, Dennis McCarthy (Cassie Larson), Craig McCarthy( Savannah Morris) and Landon McCarthy; and several nieces and nephews, and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by his dad, James Davis, and his paternal grandparents, Lloyd (poppy) and Beverly Davis (gram gram). 

The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Friday, June 23, 2023, at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A prayer service will follow at 1:00 pm at the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Fordsbush, NY. And following that a celebration of life at Rod and Gun (Peckville Rd, Dolgeville, NY 13329 end of the road).
