James E. Critser, Jr., 88, a lifelong resident of Little Falls, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
He was born on May 27, 1937, in Little Falls, son of the late James E. Critser Sr. and Adelia (Cordisi) Critser.
Jim was educated in Little Falls schools. He was employed for over 50 years at Cherry Burrell (now Feldmeier), retiring at the age of 70.
Jim loved nature and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent hours gardening, both vegetables and flowers. He took pride in adorning his home with beautiful flowers every year. Most of his summers were spent at his camp on Canadarago Lake where he relaxed and socialized with his many friends. Jim was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Surviving is his son, Robert Critser of Herkimer; daughter, Robin Critser of Little Falls; granddaughters, Kayla (Jackie) Critser of Utica as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Ronald (Michele) Mornelli, Christopher (Wendy) Mornelli and Steven (Tira) Mornelli and step grandchildren, Kayla (Jerry) Thorn and Christopher Mornelli. He also leaves behind his canine companion, Sophie.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sandra in 2023, his sister, Shirley Oldfield in 2017, a brother-in-law, Charles Oldfield in 2013 and his first wife, Anne M. Edick in 2006.
The family would like to thank the caregiver aides, Lissa and Brittney, for their care and compassion throughout his illness.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 am at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams MIlls, NY. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
