Mohawk - Helen R. (Hoke)  Healey, 84, of Mohawk went home to be with Lord on Thursday, January 28, 2021. 

   She was born June 2, 1936, in Frankfort NY the daughter of the late Archie and Ruby (Hight) Hoke. She was the 11th child. She came from a large family of 9 brothers and 5 sisters. She attended Mohawk school. Work for Salvation Army Store in Ilion, where she and her sister managed. Later she was very proud when she became a nurse's aide for Valley Health Service in Herkimer.

 On August 4, 1956, Helen was united in marriage to Edward Healey Sr. at the United Methodist Church in Mohawk, NY. They shared 52 yrs. until his passing on Jan.1, 2008. 

 To all that knew her, they would say she was happy go lucky. The gift to laugh and make jokes, have fun playing cards on the farm  and having Sunday dinners as a family. Coached little league with her good friend Jenny Herron. The love of family, her children, grandchildren and  great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye. One of her hobbies was her green thumb to grow roses. Anyone that spoke to her would have known her kindness and caring down to earth attitude and the love she had for family and friends. Her love to travel to California, Maryland, and Florida she had a get-up-and-go attitude.

 She was blessed with five children:  Mary (Sam) Mead of Mohawk, Dorina Healey Byard of Ilion, Edward (Ann Yaworski) Healey of  Florida and  Mark (Becky Norris) Healey of  Maryland;  daughter-in-law Emma Healey of Mohawk.  The most treasured in her life were grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kenneth (Joelle Holk) Mead,

Great Grandchildren Aden, Autumn, Addison Mead, Riley & Jackson Scott; Keith (Amber Sirko) Mead, Great Grandchild Clayton Mead all of Mohawk; Kari Jo Healey of New Mexico, Kevin Healey, Kelly Healey of Maryland, Ryan Healey (April Susann) of  Herkimer, Great Grandchild Connor Healey, Gregory Healey of  Florida, and Creedon Byard, Ilion.

 She also leaves her brothers, Alfred (Butch) Hoke of Dolgeville, John (Jack) Hoke of Mohawk, sister, Marguerite Hall and Sharon Bosch both of Little Falls. Brother -in law Jerry Healey of Mississippi. Adoptive sister/friend Donna Ray of Mohawk. 

 Waiting with open arms are many when she made her journey home. Proceeded By: husband, Edward 2008 and son, Richard 2017, mother, Ruby 1977 and father, Archie 1984, brothers:  Ira 1984, Arthur 1986, Archie 2001, Ernest (Skip) 2004, Kenneth 2006, Robert 2009, and Nelson 2012; sisters: Eleanor 2013, Ethel 2016, Irene 2018, and many nieces, nephews and cousins, and friends. 

The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Saturday February 6, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.  Due to the current COVID - 19 restrictions, only 10 will be allowed to pay their respects to the family at a time. Face mask and social distancing will be required. A graveside service will take place in the spring at Middleville Cemetery, at a time to be announced.  We would like to thank the great staff at Alpine Nursing Home for the exceptional care that she received.  In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions  to Paines Hollow United Methodist Church, 3139 State Rte. 168, Mohawk NY 13407 or to Salvation Army Food Pantry , 429 N Prospect St, Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
