St. Johnsville - Harold J. (Joe) Patterson, 79, of Youker Bush Road, Town of Oppenheim, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Albany Medical Center.

 He was born on June 18, 1942, in Town of Minden, the son of the late Herbert D. and Myrtle (Collins) Patterson and was educated locally.

 Joe was married to the former Carol Swank.

 Mr. Patterson was a United Stated Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

 For many years until his retirement, Joe worked for the New York Central Railroad.

 Joe was an active member of the St. Johnsville American Legion Morris J. Edwards Post 168.

 Harold "Pop Joe" along with his brother, Dan would take his team of horses during the holiday's and give wagon rides to all of the families and Pop Joe would be Santa Claus for all the kids, something he loved to do. He was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, boating, horseback riding and spending time at his brother Dan's farm. But most of all he treasured the time he spent with his family and friends.

 Survivors include his loving wife Carol of St. Johnsville; his children, Paul Patterson of St. Johnsville, Bonnie Sweet of Ilion, Deb Dufresne of St. Johnsville, James (Eileen) Oeser of Canajoharie, Kim (Robert) Snell of St. Johnsville, Jackie (Rob) Hull of Queensbury, Fred Oeser of Rhode Island, Joann Murray of Corinth, NY and Colleen (Brett) Stuttard of Corinth, NY; a sister, Sara Perkins of Canajoharie; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and lots of friends including a special friend, Myra Bailey.

 He was pre-deceased by his brothers, Edward, James, Richard, Daniel and Herbert Patterson; a sister, Elizabeth Hoyer and his grandsons, Justin Snell and Thomas Oeser.

 A celebration of Joe's life will be held with full military honors and a time to be announced. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to the St. Johnsville American Legion Morris J. Edwards Post 168, 38 W. Main St., St. Johnsville, NY 13452.
