Giuseppe Catroppa

Herkimer - Giuseppe Catroppa, 88, a long time Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday February 25, 2021 at St. Luke's Medical Center, Town of  New Hartford, NY with his loving family by his side.

 He was born January 1, 1933 in Pianopoli, Italy, the son of the late Giovanni and Rosina (Zaccone) Catroppa and was educated locally.

 He was united in marriage to Francesca Talarico on February 25, 1962 in San Michele, Italy. Giuseppe and his family moved to the United States in 1966.

 For 25 years, until his retirement, Giuseppe was employed at the former Union, Fork & Hoe in Frankfort.

 Mr. Catroppa was a member of the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph in Herkimer, NY.

 As patriarch of the family, Giuseppe’s life was centered around his loved ones. He always put the needs and concerns of his wife, children and grandchildren first. He enjoyed playing cards and bocce ball with his friends and neighbors. In his leisure, Giuseppe took much pride in making wine and soppressata, and was always happy to share with his family and friends.

 Survivors include his devoted wife of 59 years, Francesca; his loving children, Rosa Trimboli and husband Joseph, Maria Trevisani and husband Anthony; and Giuseppe Catroppa and wife Marlo; his cherished grandchildren, Jenee Palozzi and husband Nick, Joseph Trimboli, Jamie Trimboli and Gianna Trimboli, Anthony Trevisani, Gabriella Trevisani, Gianni Trevisani, Gisella Catroppa, Giuseppe Catroppa, Andie Ellis and Sam Ellis; three precious  great grandchildren, Giuliana, Luciana, and Giada; and several nieces & nephews.

 He was pre-deceased by his siblings, Carmela, Aquilino, Domenico, Antonio and Erminio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday March 2, 2021 at 9:00 am at the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, South Main St., Herkimer, NY, by Reverend Terence Healy, and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Utica, NY. There are no public calling hours. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
