George W. Oyer, Jr.

Herkimer – George W. Oyer, Jr., 64 of Stimson St., Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 22, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born August 16, 1955 in Ilion, NY the son of the late George W. and Marion (Yager) Oyer, Sr. and was educated in California.

At one time he was married to the former Vicki Russell. But then met the love of his life Jalynn Schaffer 

Mr. Oyer was last employed at the former Union Fork and Hoe in Frankfort where he was a machine operator.

George was a man dedicated to his family, his life was surrounded with the love his children and grandchildren.  An avid outdoorsman, George enjoyed camping and fishing with the ones that meant the most to him, his cherished family.

He is survived by his children and grand children Hope Russell and significant other Robert Vivacqua of Herkimer and her children Devon, Dante and Alex, Brittany Oyer and fiancé Darren Simonds of Herkimer her children Ethan, Lillian, and Jonah, George W. Oyer III and wife Nicole of Frankfort and their child Rosalee, Anthony Oyer and his wife Belinda  and their 2 sons, Rick Oyer and his wife Amanda; two brothers, Mark Oyer and wife Shirley of California and Scott Oyer of California; a sister, Diane of Boonville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by a brother, Pete Oyer.

Due to the current health situation, a memorial service will be held at a time and place to be announced when his family and friends can celebrate his life. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500.
