St. Johnsville - George Barnard finished his journey with us on May 11, 2022.
He was born on February 27, 1934, to Perley D. and Eulalie May (Craigue) Barnard.
He attended Hopkinton High School and graduated in 1953. He then joined the United States Navy, becoming a proud member of the Seabees. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, George returned to Hopkinton and became owner and operator if the Contoocook Garage. In 1963, he and his family moved to Webster, NH where he resided for many years.
In 2003, he moved to New York to continue his lifelong love of harness horse racing as an owner, driver and trainer. He was a director of the Hopkinton Fair Association and active in the Hopkinton Men's Bowling League.
He is survived by his four children, daughter, Wanda McGee; sons, Keith, Wesley and John; and his companion in life for over 30 years, Pam Chalfant.
We will remember George as fun loving, hardworking, and always quick with a comical response.
His family and friends were very important to him and close to his heart. Let us all remember the love, laughter, and support he provided to so many of us.
A celebration of life gathering will be announced for a later date. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY. 518-568-7040.
