Herkimer - Emilio Barreto, III, 40, of Herkimer passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at his home.
He was born October 7, 1981 in Ilion the beloved son of Emilio Barreto, Jr., and Elba (DeJesus) VanAlst. Emilio was a graduate of Herkimer High School.
Emilio’s sense of humor and fun loving nature always brought smiles to everyone’s face. He was artistic, athletic, and a sports fanatic who loved working out and enjoyed boxing and football. He was a very loving, kind, and sweet friend and son to his parents and peers.
Survivors include his mother, Elba VanAlst and husband Danny; his father, Emilio (Moe) Barreto, Jr. and wife Beatriz; maternal grandfather, Pedro DeJesus; and paternal grandmother, Gloria Torres. He was a wonderful brother to his siblings Michael, Jessica, Jennifer, and Bianca. He was the most loving, kind, and generous friend and uncle to his nephews and nieces Charles, Anthony, Tatyanna, and Guliana Major; and several aunts and uncles.
He was pre-deceased by his maternal grandmother, Hilda DeJesus; his paternal grandfather, Emilio Barreto, Sr. and an uncle, John Barreto.
In keeping with the wishes of Emilio's family, services will be private. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
