Ellen Gillen Obituary

 

Johnstown – Ellen F. (Stearns) Gillen, 80 years old, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 19, 2021 with her children by her side.

 She was born June 21, 1941 in Amsterdam, NY the daughter of the late Robert F. and Jessie F. (Carter) Stearns. Ellen lived a bountiful life of laughter and love.

 She was a graduating member of the Fonda – Fultonville central School, class of 1959 and spent her entire life in the Mohawk Valley region enjoying the beauty that the four seasons so elegantly provide here.

 She is pre-deceased by her parents, Robert & Jessie Stearns, as well as her siblings, Linda Rohlman, Roberta Aldi, Robert John Stearns and Richard Stearns.

 She is survived by her son and his wife, Richard and Nicole Gillen, Jr., her daughter and her husband, Beth and Joe Hogan, her son, Justin Peeler, a sister, Cherie Tedesco and a brother, Mark Stearns. As well as her sister-in-law, Marguerite Horman, she is survived her grandchildren, Ryan Gillen, Justin Gillen, Ricky and Natalie Vogel, Kyle (Haley) Rodeo, and Kassidy Hogan; her great grandchildren, London Vogel, Tyler James Gillen and Declan James Rodeo. There are numerous nieces and nephews she loved as her own as well as a plethora of extended “family members” she referred to as her angels. Her heart and arms were always open and her love was endless. 

Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY. A celebration of her life will be hosted at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, the family will be accepting donations to assist with the incurred expenses with love and gratitude. Donations may be sent to Richard Gillen, Jr., 180 Western Ave., Apt. 2, Albany, NY 12203.
