Eleonora Ceneviva Obituary

Eleonora (Tripodi) Ceneviva

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Eleonora Ceneviva, made her final journey home to be with our Lord on December 12, 2023. She lived 84 wonderful years before returning to Paradise, 63 of which were spent building a beautiful family in marriage with the love of her life, Silvio.

Eleanora was born on July 26, 1939, in Pianopoli, Italy (CZ) to Giovanni Tripodi and Angelina Mastroianni. She was one of four sisters.

Eleonora married Silvio Ceneviva on October 1, 1960, before they made the permanent trip to settle in America. They settled in Herkimer, NY, where they lived in blessed union for all of their time together.

Eleonora was one of the kindest, gentlest souls a person could ever meet. Her love for her family, especially her husband, six children, 15 grandchildren, and 6 (soon to be 7) great-grandchildren shone through in all of her words and actions. She enjoyed making Sunday pasta every week to gather her big family, loved knitting blankets for the children, baking, spending time with her daughters shopping or going to the casino, playing with all of the babies, entertaining many wonderful friends and when she was able, traveling back to her hometown in Italy with her husband. Eleonora cherished every moment watching her family come together whether it was for a celebration or just to visit. Eleonora made everyone around her feel special and loved, and her heart and home were always open to anyone who wanted to come by. She was a prayerful woman who had a strong relationship with God. She remained grateful for the blessing of being wife, mom, sister and most of all “Nonna”.

Eleonora is survived by her devoted and loving husband Silvio and their children: Rose Burroughs and her partner Joe Pashley of Frankfort, NY; Silvia Graziadei and her partner Peter Macri of Herkimer, NY; John and his wife Laurie of Avon, NY; Lisa Green and her husband Chip of Herkimer, NY; Bianca Hausauer and her husband Scott of Pinehurst, NC; and Silvio and his fiancée Alisa Ferraro of Ilion, NY. She is also survived by her wonderful grandchildren Rick Burroughs (Bethany), Danielle Patrei (Chris), Kristina Crane (Joshua), Philip Graziadei (Lauren), Daniel Graziadei (Kristen), Gina Billington (Seth), Johnny, Isabella, Ava, Mya, Dominic, Silvio Jr., Luca, and Joseph, and great-grandchildren Eliana, Liam, Rosie, Salvatore, Giovanni, and Sofia. She is also survived by her dear sisters Giuseppina (Pina) and Raffaela and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Eleonora was pre-deceased by her parents Giovanni and Angelina, her newborn son James, her sister Antonietta Mascaro, her son-in-law Phil Graziadei, and her beloved grandson Jamie Burroughs. She joins them now in eternal peace.

A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Eleonora’s life will take place on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis De Sales Church in Herkimer, NY, with Reverend Thomas Babuich, pastor, officiating. There are no public calling hours. Burial at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer will take place in the spring. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A.
