Edward C (Ed) Knapp

Frankfort - Edward C. (Ed) Knapp, 74, a prominent Little Falls businessman, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, NY, with his devoted family by his side.

He was born on January 12, 1952, in Herkimer, the son of the late Clarence E. and Livia C. (Moschetto) Knapp. Ed was a graduate of Herkimer High School.

On September 11, 1971, Ed was united in marriage to Jan Finehout at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Herkimer.

Since 1994, Ed was owner and operator of Little Falls Carpet.

Ed was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He always put the needs and concerns of his family first. He was an avid outdoorsman, who found much relaxation hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jan; two sons, Edward C. Knapp II and Jennifer Rowback and Richard Knapp and wife Melissa; a grandson, Chayce Rowback; two brothers, David M. Knapp and wife Susan, and Daniel P. Knapp and wife Stacey; his in-laws, Peggy Streeter, Elizabeth West and husband Robert and Timothy Finehout and wife Joan; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was pre-deceased by a brother-in-law, Thomas Finehout, and a sister in-law, Carol (Thomas) Baum.

In keeping with Ed’s wishes, funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of his family.  Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to Hannaford Markets) 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. All memorial contributions may be made to the Herkimer Humane Society, 514 State Route 5S, Mohawk, NY 13407.
