Herkimer - Edward J. (Czar) Czarnecki, Sr., 74, a lifelong Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 10, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born October 29, 1946 in Herkimer the son of the late Leopold and Genevieve (Alexanderowicz) Czarnecki. Ed was a graduate of Herkimer High School, class of 1965.

Mr. Czarnecki was a United States Army veteran, during the Vietnam War. He was drafted on March 4, 1968 and was honorably discharged on October 22, 1969 with the rank of SP4. While serving his country, Ed was wounded three times and was the recipient of two purple hearts.

His marriage to Margaret "Peggy" Hagarty took place on November 25, 1978 at the Christ Episcopal Church in Herkimer.

Mr. Czarnecki was an active member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, Chapter 19-1, the Christian Motorcycle Association, and the Patriot Guard Riders where he was Ride Captain.

A man devoted to his family; his life revolved around his loved ones.
