Dr. Robert E. Donadio, Sr.

Cicero - Dr. Robert E. Donadio, Sr., 93, of Cicero, NY and a former Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 23, 2020 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, NY.

He was born July 14, 1927 in Herkimer the son of the late Frank and Mary (Macrina) Donadio. Bob was a graduate of Herkimer High School. He received his Associate Degree from Alfred University and his Doctorate Degree from Temple University.

Dr. Donadio was united in marriage to the former Patricia A. Rowell, who preceded him in death on January 23, 2013.

For over 47 years, Dr. Donadio was an Executive Officer for the National Institute of Health in Washington DC.. Prior to that he was employed at OSHA.

As patriarch of the family, Dr. Donadio's life was centered around his loved ones. The welfare and concerns of the children and grandchildren were his foremost priority. He enjoyed the quality time he spent with devoted family and especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his four sons, Frank A. Donadio and his wife Kathy, Robert E. Donadio, Jr., and his wife Kim, Joseph W. Donadio and Patrick A. Donadio; His cherished grandchildren, Robert E. Donadio, III, Gabriella Marie Donadio, Jackson Oesterreicher, Jessica Ann Donadio, Cecelia Donadio, and Jillian Frances Donadio; a brother-in-law, James F. Rowell, and several nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by three brothers, Joseph, Francis and Donald Donadio.

Funeral services for Dr. Donadio, will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 8:30 am from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY, 315-866-1500, and at 9:00 am from the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Terrence Healy and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, with be held in the spring. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Wednesday January 13, 2021 from 6 - 8 pm. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, facemask and social distancing is required at the funeral home and at church.
