Mohawk - Douglas C. DesJardins, 69, of Mohawk (Town of Warren), passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.
He was born on January 5, 1956, in Utica, NY the son of Jacqueline E. (Tracy) Daley and the late Daniel C. DesJardins, Sr. Doug was a graduate of Mohawk High School.
Douglas was the Head of Maintenance at the Michael Walsh Apartments in Utica, NY.
He was a general contractor who enjoyed building and fixing things and had a contagious personality which left a mark on everyone he interacted with. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and watching them grow up and starting families of their own. He also enjoyed spending time with family almost every Sunday and holidays or birthdays and playing cards together. Although he didn’t get much time with his grandkids, he definitely has plenty of memories to cherish including all the FaceTime calls and watching them grow so fast!
Survivors include his mother, Jacqueline Daley; his daughter, April DesJardins, his son, Shawn DesJardins and his daughter, Dakota DesJardins and his grandchildren, Tatum DesJardins, Nevaeh DesJardins, Dallyn DesJardins, Stevie DesJardins, Raider Neeley-Lopez, and Remyngtyn Lopez; three sisters, Donella Tarbox and husband Rodney, Dawn Hunt and husband Randy and Tracie Rosati; three brothers, Daniel DesJardins, Jr., and wife Bonnie, Ronald DesJardins and wife Diane and John DesJardins and wife Lori; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was pre-deceased by his son, Douglas DesJardins, Jr., while serving in the Army in Iraq, a grandson, Ryder DesJardins and two sisters, Cindie Gardener and Cathy Daley.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 2 - 4 pm at the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. A prayer service will follow at 4:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.
