Dorothy Scanlon

Herkimer - Dorothy Scanlon, 85, a long time Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 13, 2021 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, NY.

She was born October 4, 1935 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Frank and Rita (Goodbred) Grainer and was a graduate of West Canada High School.

Dorothy was married to Donald Scanlon who preceded her in death in 1992. 

For many years, Dorothy was employed at the Folts Home in Herkimer. 

As a mom and grandmother, her family was the center of her world, always putting their needs before her own. She was an excellent cook. Dorothy enjoyed having her loved ones around her, and those memories will live on in their hearts. 

Survivors include her two daughters, Donna Newman and husband Brad, and Sandra Scanlon; two sons, Roger Scanlon and Donald "Ricky" Scanlon; her cherished grandchildren, Kalee (Rob) Clark, Ryan (Brynn) Newman, Nicole Newman, Matthew Jones, Brianne Scanlon and Lillyonna Scanlon; a great grandson Bodhi Clark; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dorothy was pre-deceased by her siblings.

In keeping with Dorothy's wishes and due to the current COVID - 19 restrictions, funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of her family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
