Donna M. (Caponera) Carter

St. Johnsville - Donna M. Carter, 65, a long time St. Johnsville resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 2, 2021 at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

She was born March 19, 1955 in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Joseph and Joyce (Carbary) Caponera. Donna was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, class of 1973 and also graduated from Fulton Montgomery Community College with an associate's degree.

On December 20, 1974, Donna was united in marriage to James F. Carter in St. Johnsville. The couple shared a blessed union of 41 years until the untimely passing of James on December 18, 2015. 

Donna worked at Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Sharon Springs, until her illness. Prior to working at Walmart DC, Donna worked at Snell's Tavern, STJ Nursing Home, and Lifesavers where she made many lifelong friends. She enjoyed dancing, loved panda bears and was the best at finding four leaf clovers.

Survivors include, two daughters, Tabitha L. Carter and husband Terry Staves of Little Falls, and Samantha R. Carter of St. Johnsville; a son Joseph A. Carter of St. Johnsville, two grandchildren, Dominic J. and Caleb W. Douglass; a sister, Linda Caponera of California; three brothers, Albert Caponera and wife Debbie of St. Johnsville, David Caponera and wife Mamie of Massachusetts and Thomas Caponera and wife Melissa of St. Johnsville; her mother-in-law, Edna Carter of St. Johnsville; and in-laws, Richard Carter and Sharon Flanders, Roger and Joan Carter, Ellen Carter; and several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by a brother, Robert J. Caponera on May 10, 2009 and a sister-in law, Susan Caponera. 

Graveside services at St. Johnsville Cemetery will be held in the spring. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY 518-568-7040.
