Nelliston - Donald A. Yerdon, 61, of Nelliston, NY passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Thursday, December 2, 2021.
He was born January 14, 1960, in Little Falls the son of Elizabeth Louise Yerdon and the late Donald A. Yerdon. Donald was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, class of 1978 and furthered his education as an auto body technician at Fulton Montgomery BOCES.
Mr. Yerdon was the former owner and operator of Valley Automotive in Nelliston, NY and employed at the New York State Department of Transportation for 32 years before retiring as a Bridge Maintenance Supervisor.
Known as Donnie to his friends, he served his community as the mayor of the Village of Nelliston for 23 years, was an active member of the Auxiliary Squad at VFW Post #3275 in Fort Plain and known to always be willing to help those around him.
Donnie could always be found with his dogs, Shelby and Tucker, at Stewarts, or in the garage tinkering on one of his many projects.
Survivors include his mother, Louise Yerdon; his fiancée, Deborah Hudson; daughter and step-daughter, Kimberly Yerdon and Cari Hudson (Angel Lopez); son and step-son, Christopher Yerdon (Ashley DiBenedetto) and Bruce & Kelly Hudson, Jr.; his brother, Niel & Sarah Yerdon; grandchildren Molly and Laura Yerdon, Jace and Olivia Savoie, Catalina Lopez, Cole and Avery Hudson; an aunt, Carmella Yerdon, uncle, Robert Oakley, in-laws, Eleanor Crouch and Henry & DiAnna Reynolds; life-long friend Jace (Tammy) Collins and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was pre-deceased by his friend, Thomas Crouch.
In keeping with Donald's wishes, funeral services and burial at Fort Plain Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of his family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY.
