St. Johnsville – Dominick (Stugger) Stagliano, 76, a longtime St. Johnsville resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY with his devoted family by his side.
He was born on June 20, 1948, in Little Falls, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Iozzo) Stagliano. Dominick was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School and later attended SUNY Cobleskill.
On November 17, 1968, Dominick was united in marriage to Barbara Salvagni at St. Patrick’s Church in St. Johnsville, NY.
Mr. Stagliano was a United States Army veteran, enlisting on July 18, 1968, and was honorably discharged on March 2, 1970, after serving in Vietnam, with the rank of SP5.
Dominick was last employed as a Warranty Service Manager for BBL Medical Facilities in Albany, NY. Prior to that, he was a self-employed Carpenter, Custom Cabinet Maker, Clerk of the Works for several large projects in the area, such as the St. Johnsville Nursing Home, the addition to the OESJ High School, Cherry Valley-Springfield Central School, and Developer of Midtown Estates.
Dominick’s true passion was serving the community he grew up in through the local and county government. Since the early 70’s he has served as the Mayor of St. Johnsville, Village Trustee, St. Johnsville Town Supervisor, twice, for numerous years, Montgomery County Board of Supervisors, at one time being Chairman of the Board, the St. Johnsville Youth Center Board and the OESJ School Board.
Mr. Stagliano was a member of the Morris J. Edwards American Legion, Post #168 in St. Johnsville, NY.
Dominick cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. Food is love, and Dominick loved cooking for his family and friends, and sharing the kitchen with his children and four grandsons. Christmas Eve with the traditional Italian Christmas meal was his most treasured. He and his wife loved traveling near and far to watch their grandsons many athletic events. Dominick passed along his love for politics, and cooking, but most of all, his love for Disney, making lifelong memories on their many family trips to Florida. He was also an avid golfer.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara: his son, Stephen Stagliano and wife Elizabeth; his daughter, Emilee Snell and husband Mark; his grandsons, Jacob and Andrew Snell and Nicholas and William Stagliano; a brother, Frank Stagliano and wife Cindy; in-laws, Mary Ann and Gary (Dart) Jones and Robert Salvagni; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was pre-deceased by his in-laws, Floyd (Fat) and Esther Salvagni; sister-in-law, Carol Salvagni and his beloved golden retriever, Zack.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY. A prayer service will follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home, with Rev. David Johnson, officiating. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, Texas 75284. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
