Dominick C. Difatte

Mohawk - Dominick C. Difatte, 83, of Mohawk, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 4, 2026, with his devoted family by his side. 

Dominick was born on August 10, 1942, in Queens, NY, the son of the late Dominick and Frances (Lucanio) Difatte. Dominick was a graduate of Shirley William Floyd High School Class of 1960. His love for music inspired a love of dance, and Dominick was often sought out as a dance partner at school events.

On October 10, 1981, Dominick was united in marriage to Marilyn Abidor in Babylon, NY. The couple shared a blessed union of 30 years, full of laughter, dancing, and casino nights, until the passing of Marilyn on September 12, 2012. 

Dominick was last employed at LaSalle Labs in Little Falls, NY.

Dominick was an avid New York Yankees fan and also liked American Football and Bowling. He had a passion for music, including his talent for the piano and the accordion, and a special love for The Beatles. He also loved cooking for his family and friends. His specialty was eggs and grilled cheese sandwiches. He also loved to play Scrabble.

Family was the most important thing in the world to Dominick. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

He is survived by his daughters, Janice Wenke and husband David, Diane Jones and husband David, and daughter-in-law, Cathy Heimowitz; his sons, Scot Heimowitz and wife Cynthia, and Brian Heimowitz and wife Jeannie; his beloved grandchildren Joshua (Amie), Sarah, Jerica (Chris), Benjamin, Krystal (Kenny), Jonathan (Matthew), Hannah (Steven), Maxwell (Faith), Rebecka, Victoria (Joseph), and Jae; his great-grandchildren Neveah, Angelina, Anabelle, and Paisley and his special furry grandchild Jett. 

He was predeceased by his sons, Robert Difatte and Dwayne Heimowitz, and his beloved puppies Muffin and Buddy.

In keeping with Dominick’s wishes, funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of his family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the locally owned and family operated Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
