On Tuesday, December 6, 2022. Dolores M. Swietlikowski, “Mimi” to all who knew and loved her, was called to heaven. She had just surpassed her 91st birthday. Mimi was born in Amsterdam, NY, on November 13, 1931, to Stephen and Catherine (Czech) Golicki. Her family moved to Herkimer, where years later she would meet the love of her life, Donald Swietlikowski (Dizzy).
They married in St. Joseph’s Church in 1952. They were blessed with two children, Donnie and Kathy ‘Swet’. Dolores and Dizzy shared almost 60 years of marriage together. Every day they showed each other the true meaning of love and family. They loved to travel and went on many cruises to various destinations around the world. Traveling was a passion to them.
Mimi was an amazing cook and baker. All her family, especially her grandkids, couldn’t wait to see what she was making. Whether it was perogies, golabkies, or an assortment of cookies, no one ever left the table hungry. Mimi was the matriarch of her family. She always made sure that everyone was happy, healthy and obviously well fed.
Mimi was loved by all who knew her. She was the best mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her grandkids were everything to her. There wasn’t a single holiday that passed without her sending a package full of goodies, like cookies and presents. They always felt so loved by her. She even had the opportunity to be around to see two great grandkids, which she loved dearly like the rest of her family.
Prior to Mimi’s passing, she had the opportunity of see her entire family one last time. For her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, this last visit will be cherished forever. Mimi is going to be greatly missed, but we know she was welcomed into heaven by her loving husband, Dizzy, her son Donnie, her mother, father, sisters, brothers and loads of other family members and friends. We know they are all celebrating being together again and we, too, well celebrate when we are all reunited one day.
Mimi is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Kathy), and husband, David Richmond; her granddaughters, Carlye and Lindsey Richmond; her great-grandchildren, Eden and Abel; three sisters, Patty Kelly, Susanne Leone and Barbara Giuffre; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and their spouses.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, from 4 to 6 PM at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 9:15 am from the chapel of the funeral home and at 10:00 AM, at the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, 229 S. Main St., Herkimer, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Spring burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY.
