Troy – Deborah A. Sheely, 78, of Troy and formerly of Fort Plain passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Eddy Heritage Nursing Home in Troy, NY.
She was born on May 13, 1947, in Gloversville, NY the daughter of the late William and Ethel (Van Husen) Healey. Deb was a graduate of Fort Plain High School.
On April 1, 1967, Deb was united in marriage to James M. Sheely at the former St. James Catholic Church in Fort Plain. The couple shared a blessed union of 14 years, until the untimely passing of Jim on February 20, 1982.
Deb was last employed as a Group Home Manager for the Liberty Enterprise in Gloversville, NY.
Mrs. Sheely was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain, NY.
She is survived by her son, Michael Sheely and wife Erin Hammond; five grandchildren, Mary DeRubeis, Jacob DeRubeis, Joey DeRubeis, Mac Sheely and Aidan Sheely; two sisters, Mary Puznowski and husband Paul and Melissa Palmeri and husband Joseph; two brothers, William (Mike) Healey and wife Monica and Joseph Healey and wife Jacquie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Theresa DeRubeis, sister, Lynn Healey, and a brother, James Healey.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 119 Reid St., Fort Plain, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am with Reverend Terence Healey officiating, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Burial will follow at Fort Plain Cemetery. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
