David C. Oyer

Herkimer – David C. Oyer, 40, of Herkimer, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at his home.

 He was born on November 17, 1981, in Ilion, the son of David L. and Carol A. (Bokowski) Oyer. David was a graduate of Herkimer High School, class of 2000.

 Dave was currently employed at F.X. Matt Brewery in Utica for the last 12 and a half years.  He took immense pride in working there and considered his coworkers his second family.

 Dave enjoyed all types of sports, football and baseball being his favorites. He never missed a Bills or Yankees game.  Dave has been an avid Buffalo Bills fan since he was little, and all he wanted is for them to make the Super Bowl this year. Other hobbies included spending time with his buddies, laughing and blaring country music out of their pick-up trucks, always with full coolers in hand.  Dave had a great sense of humor and was always willing to lend a helping hand, no matter what.  He was a protective big brother with the kindest heart and biggest smile. 

 Survivors include his parents, David and Carol; two sisters, Stephanie Oyer, Amanda Coughlin and husband Dan; his twin nieces, Maggie and Lydia; his aunts and uncles, several cousins, and his beloved cat, Daisy.

 The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 5 – 8 pm at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. His funeral will take place on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 9:15 am from the funeral home and at 10:00 am at the Church of St. Anthony & Joseph, South Main St., Herkimer, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Terence Healy and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. All memorial contributions may be made to the Herkimer Humane Society, 514 State Route 5s, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
