Daniel J. Walsh

Herkimer - Daniel J. Walsh, 66, a longtime Herkimer resident, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in the privacy of his home.

He was born on December 24, 1958, in Massena, NY the son of the late Donald J. Walsh and Mildred (Bobak) Tripp. Dan was a graduate of Herkimer High School, class of 1977. He furthered his education at Herkimer County Community College where he earned an Associate Degree in Construction Technology.

Dan was a Building Designer, and owner of Walsh Designs in Herkimer, NY. Dan took pride in the many drawings and plans that he produced over the past two decades. These included single family homes, and commercial buildings as well. He did work for builders in Arizona and New York State.

Dan enjoyed snowmobiling over the years both riding and going to snowmobile races. He and his friends would go to Old Forge to enjoy the many riding trails located there. Family and friends were very important to Dan. He was especially proud of his son Dylan and cherished their time together.  He also enjoyed family get togethers and watching his Grand Nephews, Jagger and Jaxson Sninchak playing baseball and soccer.

His two loving cats, Holly and Molly were very special companions to him.

Survivors include his son, Dylan Walsh; a sister, Diane Wilson and husband John; a brother, Darrell Walsh and wife Laurie; a sister-in-law, Lynda Walsh and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by his brother, Donald J. Walsh, Jr. on July 18, 2019.

 A graveside service will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00 am at Oak Hill in Herkimer, NY. There will be a Celebration of Life after the service at a location to be determined. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
