Mrs. Constance Maida, age 89, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 4th, 2025, at her residence.
She was born February 23, 1936, in Lewiston, Maine a daughter of the late Napoleon and Cecilia Bennett.
Constance was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, Gregory Maida; daughter, Sheila Mosher, son, Jeffrey Maida, sister, Jeanette Hart and brothers, Reginald, Norman and Theodore Bennett.
She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and friend. She enjoyed baking, decorating, traveling, camping, arts and crafts and woodworking with her husband but most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren and loved ones. Constance was exceptionally skilled in sewing and often created custom clothing for her grand and great grandchildren - surprising them with her newest creations on every visit. She was also an avid baker, known for her homemade Italian pastries that delighted her family and friends with every visit to her kitchen and even in the mail. Above all, Constance was a soft and comforting soul to the many friends she made during her 20+ years in Florida, often consoling friends on loved ones lost or providing a warm, welcoming porch for neighbors and passerby’s. As stated in 1 Corinthians 16:14, "let all that you do be done in love" and this could not describe Constance’s life more perfectly.
Constance is survived and missed by her two sons, Gregory Maida (Jessica) of Richmond and Joseph Maida (Denise) of Virginia Beach, grandchildren, Jesse Ratcliffe (Megan), Jeremy Maida (Kaisee), Gina Maida and Roman Maida and four great grandchildren, Claire Maida, and Joseph Maida and Kaden and Jackson Ratcliffe. She also leaves many dear and beloved family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral service will be held at 9:30 on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church at 228 S. Main St. in Herkimer, NY with Reverend Terence Healy, officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer. Local arrangements are under the caring guidance of the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
