St. Johnsville - Clifford W. (C.J.) Jones, 74, a long time St. Johnsville resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the St. Johnsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his devoted family by his side.
He was born on April 21, 1947, in Amsterdam, NY the son of the late Warren and Hazel Mae (Rouse) Jones and was educated in St. Johnsville schools.
Mr. Jones was a United States Navy veteran, enlisting on August 5, 1965, and was honorably discharged on August 4, 1969, with the rank of SN. Cliff proudly served his country with two deployments during the Vietnam War.
For many years, until his retirement, C.J. was employed in the maintenance department of St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. An avid outdoorsman, that Cliff enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching pro-sports. He was well known for his ability to make everyone laugh. He was the family comedian.
Clifford was a member of the St. Johnsville American Legion Morris J. Edwards Post 168.
Survivors include his loving daughter, Veronica McArthur and husband Jay of California; a sister, Judith Davis of Lakeland, Florida; brothers, Warren (Sonny) Jones and Debbie of Broadalbin, Gary (Dart) Jones and wife Mary Ann of St. Johnsville, NY and Brian (Skeeter) Jones and wife Sonia of Whispering Pines, NC; his grandchild, Devin - Lee Piper McArthur of California; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and his “family of wonderful nurses and caretakers on the C wing of St. Johnsville Nursing Center”.
Final funeral arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY, 518-568-7040. A Celebration of Life with full military honors will be held at the convenience of the family in the spring of 2022. Details will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Clifford’s honor to either, St. Johnsville American Legion Morris J. Edwards Post 168, 38 W.
