Charles W. Witkowski 1943 – 2022

Sprakers, NY - Mr. Charles W. Witkowski “Chuck”, a farmer and life-long resident of the Mohawk Valley, passed away of natural causes at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY on Monday, November 14th, 2022.  His home was on Old Sprakers Road from 1971 to 2022.  Born on September 28th, 1943, in Schenectady, NY, the only child of the late Charles and Rose (Bayzon) Witkowski, raised in Stone Arabia graduating from Fort Plain High School and furthered his education at Cobleskill College.  He was later united in marriage to Rosanne (Flanagan) on September 11,1965.

 Agriculture proved to be Chuck's calling, and in 1971 he and his wife purchased a dairy farm in Sprakers where they raised their four children and shared in the struggles which accompany such a lifestyle.  Despite the odds, he managed to make the farm successful and, with the help of his family, renovate the property to a picturesque setting.  Providing his kids with experiences they will carry throughout their lives and instilling in them the values of hard work. Life on “the farm” remains a centerpiece of many memories.

 Chuck enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbors, engaging in conversation, and healthy debate. He is survived by his wife, Roseann: daughters, Lisa Sansevieri and husband Vincent of New Hartford, NY, Michelle Linck and husband Tim of Sauquoit, NY: sons, Aaron Witkowski and wife Julie of Summit, NY, and Shaun Witkowski of Denver, CO: his grandchildren, Ashley, Kirsten, Zach, Gabby, Jake, Alex, Ryan, and Brendon: along with aunts Clara Sarafin of Herkimer, NY, and Stephanie Greseck of Richfield Springs, NY, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and several cousins. He also leaves behind a circle of cherished friends and neighbors that brought joy to his retired life in Sprakers. Merritt, Susan, Jeff, Eric, and others too numerous to mention, know he treasured each of you, your morning coffee chats, your drop in visits, and countless hours of banter.

 The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the Sprakers Reformed Church, 112 Sprakers Hill Road, Sprakers, NY 12116. A prayer service will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Nancy Ryan, officiating. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions in Charles' name to Sprakers Reformed Church, 112 Sprakers Hill Road, Sprakers, NY 12166.
