Herkimer – Charles R. Knop, 83, of the town of Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Syracuse Veteran’s Hospital.
He was born on April 15, 1942, in Little Falls the son of the late Paul and Anna (Sivacek) Knop. Charles attended Little Falls High School.
Mr. Knop was a United States Army veteran, enlisting on November 20, 1966, and was honorably discharged on November 21, 1968, with the rank of Sergeant.
On June 29, 1963, Charles was united in marriage to Sandra J. DeMartine at the First Presbyterian Church in Ilion, NY.
For over 37 years, Charles was employed at the former Remington Arms in Ilion, NY.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Sandra; a son, Kevin Knop; a brother – in – law, Robert DeMartine and wife Sandy, and several, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a bother Paul Knop; and two sisters, Beverly Urich and Elizabeth McCaw.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 4 – 6 pm at the locally owned and family operated Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to Hannaford Markets) 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. A prayer service will follow at 6:00 pm with full military honors accorded. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to the Syracuse Veteran’s Hospital, 800 Irving Ave., Syracuse, NY 13210. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
