Westmoreland - Charles “Sonny” Culver (55) passed away on December 21st, 2022, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side.
He was born September 22nd, 1967, the son of the late Howard and B. Elaine Cool Culver. He graduated from Herkimer High School, class of 1985. Employed in the produce department of P&C/Tops/Grand Union for 39 years. He also worked at the Turning Stone Casino for the last 16 years. Often called “Scrub”, he was an avid outdoorsman with a love of hunting, fishing and camping. He loved the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. He also was devoted to spending quality time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Tracy Culver of Westmoreland, three children Luke (Jennifer) Culver of Pembroke Pines, FL, Paige (Kyle) LaBarge of Vernon and Landon Culver of Herkimer. Cherished granddaughter Adalynn Culver.
He is also survived by his siblings Bridget “Bird” Riesel, Elizabeth “Cissy” Rando, John “Butch” (Suzanne Comins) Wellington, Ralph (Anna) Wellington, David (Kitty Pinkham) Wellington, David “Chick” Culver and Howard Culver JR. Along with many, many nieces and nephews and a special loved one, Cadie. Lifelong friends who he loved spending time hunting, fishing and trapping with including Wally Filipczuk, Bill Combs, Steve Malbouf and Timmy Nouvong.
His in-laws Robert and Shirley Skuse, Mary and Rick Paulsen, Melanie (Kyle) Mulligan, Brittany Petronella and Stephanie Petronella.
Predeceased by his parents Howard and B. Elaine Cool Culver along with brother Robert “Bob” Wellington and sister Mary Farrington. Also, his dear brothers-in-law, Kirk Rando and Brad Riesel.
In keeping with Sonny’s wishes, family and friends are welcome to join for a celebration of life at the East Herkimer Fish & Game Club on Sunday, May 28th, 2023, at 4pm. Please send memories, photos or notes to sonnyculver85@gmail.com.
