Catherine C. Daly

Mohawk - Catherine C. Daly, 69, a longtime Mohawk resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY.

She was born on April 21, 1954, in Herkimer, NY, the daughter of the late John F. and Elisabeth (Craft) Daly.  Catherine was a graduate of Richfield Springs Central School and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Speech, English and Secondary Education and her Master’s Degree in Communication, both from Syracuse University.

Ms. Daly taught English for many years at high schools in the Mohawk Valley and also at Munson Williams Proctor School of Art.  She worked at WKTV for a number of years and also at WUTR.

Catherine loved theater and was a founding member of the STAGE TWO community theater group, which produced plays and musicals for thirty years.

She loved sharing her passion for theater especially in her children’s theater group and working on many high school musicals, particularly the yearly productions at Herkimer High School.

Survivors include her dear friend, John Krause, her sisters Mary Ann Daly, Susan Reiter, Barbara Homyk and husband Alan, Janet Daly, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents, Catherine was pre-deceased by her sister Ellen Daly and her brother, John F. Daly, Jr. 

The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from 6-8 pm at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY - (315) 866-1500. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Church, 219 N. Bellinger St., Herkimer, NY with Reverend Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to the Herkimer County Humane Society, 514 State Highway 5s, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
