Brian Smith Obituary

Herkimer - Brian A. Smith, 59, of Herkimer and formerly of Little Falls and Fort Plain, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 8, 2020 at St. Luke's Medical Center, New Hartford, NY.

He was born August 27, 1960 in Little Falls the son of the late Guy Oliver and Leona (Clark) Smith.  Brian was educated in Fort Plain schools.

He was last employed at the former Big M Supermarket in Little Falls. Prior to that he worked at Empire Fiber Glass.

An avid outdoorsman, Brian enjoyed all types outdoor actives. His favorite pastime was the quality time he spent socializing with his buddies.

Survivors include his son, Evan Smith and wife Emily, grandchildren Elijah and Carter Smith and Evan’s mother, Sandy Douglas and her husband Mike Schmidt all of Fort Plain; his sisters, Laurie (Mark) Hisert, Sr. of Fort Plain, Sherene (Chris) Cook of Fort Plain, Koreal (Robert) Young of Fort Plain, Tara McCann of Cherry Valley, Debbie Smith of Fort Plain, and Cindy Edwards of Edinburgh; a brother, Harold Smith of Amsterdam; a special friend, Donald ( Do) Oldick; and several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by a brother, Harry F. Smith, Jr., brothers-in-law, Chris McCann and Frank Edwards and a nephew, Keith McCann.

In keeping with Brian's wishes funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 East Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
