Betty J. (Johnson) Smith

St. Johnsville - Betty J. Smith, 93, of St. Johnsville (Town of Ephratah), passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at her home with her loving family by her side.

She was born on September 19, 1931, in the Town of Salisbury, NY, the daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Sheppard) Johnson. Betty was a graduate of the former Stratford Central School District.

On November 29, 1975, Betty was united in marriage to David R. Smith at the Scotch Bush Free Methodist Church in Lassellsville, NY.

Betty was last employed at the former Little Falls Footwear in St. Johnsville, NY.

Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, David; a daughter, Sharon Davis; a son, Stephen Slaboc; her grandchildren, Amanda, Stephen, and Jason Slaboc; a brother, Christopher Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her siblings, Gordon, Dean, Jack, Norma, Janet, and Donna.

In keeping with Betty’s wishes, funeral services and burial at Fical Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of her family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the locally owned and family-operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20, Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY.
