Mohawk - Barbara A. Shepard, 76, of Mohawk, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on June 17, 1949, in Ilion, the daughter of the late Raymond and Marjorie (Blaise) Boulia and was a graduate of Mohawk High School.
On April 6, 1974, Barbara was united in marriage to Larry A. Shepard at the Ilion Methodist Church.
Mrs. Shepard was last employed at Mohawk Central School System as a Teacher’s Aide and was also a bus monitor. At one time, she worked for the Herkimer Elementary School.
Barbara’s life was centered around her loved ones, proving herself a loving and caring wife and mother. She along with her husband Larry, enjoyed testing her chance at playing bingo at the Turning Stone Casino. Barbara was an avid arts and crafter and found much enjoyment attending many craft fairs.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Larry Shepard; a daughter, Kelly Joaquin; four sons, Wayne Amandalair, George Amandalair, Lawrence E. Shepard and Raymond A. Shepard; her stepchildren Michael A. Shepard, Tammy L. Shepard and Lorry A. Shepard; her many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her grandsons, Nicholas Shepard and Nathan Shepard, and a sister.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 2 - 5 pm at the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. A prayer service will follow at 5:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home with Deacon James Bower officiating. Graveside service will take place on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 11:30 am at Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion, NY.
