Frankfort — Anthony E. (Tony) LaValla, 76 a life long Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 3, 2020 with his loving family by his side.

He was born February 28, 1944 in Ilion, NY the son of the late Earl and Jennie (Sgroi) LaValla. Tony was educated in Frankfort schools. 

He was married to Carol Ann Kipper on July 31, 1965 at the former St. Mary’s Church in Frankfort, NY.

Tony was employed with the Village of Frankfort. His last position with the village was with the Light Department as a meter reader.

He was a member of the Ilion Fish and Game Club, Mohawk Fish and Game Club, Fort Plain Beagle Club, Herkimer Mid Valley Beagle Club, Ilion Moose Lodge and IBEW Local 1249.

A man dedicated to his family, Tony’s life was centered around his loved ones. He was a loving husband, a caring father and doting grandfather and great grandfather. He was the happiest in the great outdoors, a warm, friendly man that made a new friend wherever he went.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Carol Ann; four daughters, Gina and Scott Campione of Venice, Florida, Lorrie and Mike Bass of Herkimer, Tamara LaValla of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Michelle and Harold Griffin of Frankfort; his grandchildren, Brittany Bass and her companion, Tim, Michael and Kaitlyn Bass, Samantha Griffin and GiaVanna Campione; his great grandchildren, Camryn, Ariana, Toni and his first great grandson who is due in July; two brothers, Joseph and Linda LaValla of Frankfort and Richard and Cindy LaValla of Trenton, Georgia; nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends, Tom and Lisa Paciello, Bob Lattrell and Cory Cool.

He is also survived by his in-laws, Mary Ann LaValla, Sylvia and Gary Grippe, John and Emily Kipper and Frank Kipper and his companion Cindy Renninger.

He was pre-deceased by a sister, Mary Pedone, a brother, Robert LaValla and a special aunt, Mary Tesoriere.

In keeping with current Covid practices, the family will be receiving friends and relatives that wish to attend calling hours on Sunday June 7, 2020, from 5-7PM at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.  In accordance with the current guidelines, we ask in advance for everyone’s patience and cooperation as we will be only allowing 10 guests at a time into the building for social distancing, and we ask that everyone please wear a mask.

Burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort, will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
