Herkimer – Anthony (Tony) Annotto, 97, a lifelong Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the FoltsBrook Center, Herkimer, NY.
He was born on May 1, 1926, in Herkimer the son of the late Alfonso and Angelina (Foti) Annotto and was educated in Herkimer.
He was married to Jacqualien Donato on January 31, 1948, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Middleville, NY. The couple shared a blessed union of 67 years, until the passing of Jacqualien on February 27, 2015.
For many years, Tony was a butcher for the former Great American Markets in Herkimer, NY. He was a member of the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph in Herkimer.
Survivors include his children, Cynthia Annotto of McKinleyville, California, Alfonso (Al) Annotto and David Lowenstein of Cazenovia, NY, and Angela Vogt and Robert of McKinleyville, California; a sister, Mary LaPuma of Frankfort; a brother, Nicholas Annotto and Julia of Saratoga Springs, NY; his grandchildren, Lela Annotto, T.J. Pemberton, Angelo Annotto, Gabriel Lowenstein, Brooke Vogt, Lucas Vogt, Blake Vogt, Anthony Annotto and Erin Annotto; a great grandchild, Brenley Vogt; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was pre-deceased by a son, Francis Annotto.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 5 – 7 pm at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 10:00 am at the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, South Main St., Herkimer, NY, with Reverend Thomas Babiuch, pastor officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer with full military honors accorded. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to the Herkimer VFW, Post 4915, 131 Mohawk St., Herkimer, NY 13350 or to the East Herkimer Fish & Game Club, PO Box 308, Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
