Ann Massaro Obituary

Herkimer - Ann G. Massaro, 95, a long time Herkimer resident passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 10, 2021 at her home.

She was born August 11, 1925 in Ilion, the daughter of the late Frank J. and Catherine (Wake) Lynch. Ann was a graduate of Mohawk High School.

She was married to Michael Massaro on November 25, 1948 at St. Francis de Sales Church by the late Reverend Kehoe. The couple shared a blessed union of 47 years until the passing of Mike on August 21, 1996.

Ann along with her husband and her family owned and operated Massaro & Son Florist in East Herkimer. Prior to that, she owned the former Lynch's Restaurant in Herkimer. In her younger years, Ann, her parents and her sister, Helen, operated the former American Hotel in Ilion.

Mrs. Massaro was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer and a long time member of the East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include her daughters, Margaret DeCarr and husband Robert, and Mary Ann Rice and husband Bob, all East Herkimer; her loving grandchildren, Frank (Karen Lavier) DeCarr, Catherine (Bill) Maxwell, Michael (Jaclyn) Massaro, Jr., Angela (Joe) Lyon, Michelle (Thomas) Gilbert, Beth (Robert, Jr.) Lyon, Robert (Donna) Rice III, Danny (Christy) Rice and Ann (Mark) Gaworecki; many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousin and in-laws.

She was pre-deceased by her son, Michael (Mary) Massaro, her grandsons, Robert DeCarr and James Scott DeCarr, granddaughter, Pam DeCarr, great grandson, Justin Lyon,  great great granddaughter, Emma Rose Massaro, and a sister, Helen Griffith.

In keeping with Ann's wishes and due to the current COVID -19 restrictions, funeral services and visitation will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer will take place in the spring. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
