Alan D. Smith

Herkimer – Alan D. Smith 74, a longtime Herkimer resident, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at his home.

He was born on December 2, 1949, the son of the late Dwight and Frances (Lojba) Smith. Alan was a graduate of Mohawk High School and furthered his education at Herkimer County Community College where he earned an associate degree in chemistry.

Survivors include his sister, Betty Kwiat and husband Mark of Bonita Springs, Florida; three nephews, David Kwiat of  Naples, Florida, Paul Kwiat of Glens Falls, New York and Steven Kwiat of Phoenix, Arizona.

In keeping with Alan’s wishes funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of his family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
