William Bates Obituary
Utica - William J. (Bill) Bates, 73 of Utica passed away peacefully on Thursday November 22, 2018 at Folts Brook Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Herkimer, NY.
He was born October 2, 1945 in Norwich, NY the son of the late Warren H. and Elizabeth (Jilson) Bates and was educate in Rome schools.
He was married to the former Janet E. Olney.
Mr. Bates was a United States Army veteran, enlisting on February 5, 1971 and was honorably discharged on December 5, 1973 with the rank of Private First Class.
Survivors include his wife Janet of Little Falls, his children, William Bates, David Bates, Michael Miner, Sherry Bates, Tammy Bates, Laurie Bates, and Melissa Everett; his brothers, Milton Bates, Clarence Bates, Warren Bates; his sisters, Ellie Morrison and Shirley Lamoreaux. He is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was pre-deceased by a brother, Richard J. Bates.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 27, 2018 at 7:00 pm from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 East Albany St., Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500, with Reverend Eugene Kipper, officiating. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Tuesday November 27, 2018 from 5:00 pm until the time of the services at 7:00 pm.
