Sandra L. (Evans) Stegich

Little Falls – Sandra L. (Evans) Stegich, 75, of Stegich Road, Mohawk, NY (Town of Little Falls) passed away peacefully on Saturday December 8, 2018 at the Cooperstown Center Rehabilitation and Nursing with her loving family by her side.

She was born April 20, 1943 in Gloversville, NY the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Quigley) Evans and was a graduate of Mohawk High School, the class of 1961.

Her marriage to James F. Stegich took place on June 1, 1963 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk by the late Reverend Adams.

Sandy started her working career at the former Allegro Shoe Company in Little Falls, NY. After leaving Allegro’s she was employed at Salada Foods in Little Falls where she held the position of Maintenance Administrator until her retirement. After her retirement, Sandy was employed for a brief time in the business office at the Utica Club Brewery.

A woman devoted to her family she always put the needs of her loved ones first. She enjoyed her home and spending time with her family and friends. In her leisure she was an avid reader.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 55 years, James (Kit); a daughter, Jill Dzimitrowicz of Cedarville, NY; a son, John Stegich of the Town of Little Falls; two grandsons, Mathew J. Stegich and wife Suzanne of Canajoharie and Brian Dzimitrowicz, Jr., of Ilion; two brothers, William Evans and wife Nancy of Marilla, NY and Robert Evans of Mohawk; a sister-in-law, Renee Jones and husband Bill of Herkimer; a brother – in –law, Harold King and wife Emily of Caroga, NY; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was pre-deceased by her father and mother-in-law, John and Anne Stegich, a sister-in-law, Sondra (Stegich) King, a brother-in-law, John (Jack) Stegich and her canine companion, Shelby Lynn.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 15, 2018 at 10:00 am from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 East Albany Street, Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, NY. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday December 14, 2018 from 5 – 7 pm. All memorial contributions may be made to the Herkimer Humane Society, Po Box 73, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
