Robert Schoff Obituary

St. Johnsville – Robert C. (Bob) Schoff, 75 of St. Johnsville, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Wednesday March 7, 2018.

He was born March 27, 1942 in Little Falls the son of the late Elmer and Ruth (Van Slyke) Schoff and was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School.

He was married to the former Earlene Bonham on January 13, 1968 at the Boulevard Methodist Church in Binghamton, NY.

Mr. Schoff was a United States Army veteran who served two tours in Vietnam during the war as a Military Policeman.

Bob was a member of the Teamsters Union and last employed by Consolidated Freightways as a driver, in Syracuse.

Robert was of the Protestant faith. A man dedicated to his family, his life was centered around his loved ones and he put them before everything else. He valued his children and grandchildren as his greatest accomplishment.  He enjoyed gardening and in his earlier years was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting. His love of farming, and his dedication to hard work would stay with him throughout his life.  He spent his retirement years working alongside his sons to run Schoff Dairy Farms.  It gave him tremendous joy, his love of the land, and sharing this passion and knowledge with his children. He thrived on hard work, humility and generosity.  He had a great affection for hostess cupcakes and twinkies and sharing them with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty years, Earlene; two daughters, Christine Sheehan and her husband Daniel of Niskayuna and Catherine Kirkaldy and her husband Derek of Scotia; four sons, Robert Schoff and his wife Erika of Columbus, Ohio, David Schoff and his wife Abbey of St. Johnsville, Jason Schoff and his wife Bonnie of St. Johnsville, and Jonathan Schoff and his wife Danielle of Palatine Bridge; 13 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Donald Schoff and his wife Joyce of St. Johnsville, Philip Schoff and his wife Marcia of St. Johnsville, Lawrence Schoff and his wife Patsy of St. Johnsville and Ted Schoff and his wife Sally of Little Falls; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Saturday March 10, 2018 from 11:00 am until the time of the services at 1:00 pm from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge) 20 Bridge, St. St. Johnsville, NY 518-568-7040 with Reverend David Johnson, officiating. Burial with full military honors will take place later in the spring at West St. Johnsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to the St. Johnsville American Legion, Morris J. Edwards, Post # 168, 38 West Main St., St. Johnsville, NY 13452. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
