Robert L. Bennett

Ilion- Robert L. (Bob) Bennett, 67, of Ilion, NY passed away peacefully on Monday May 27, 2019 at St. Luke's Medical Center, New Hartford, NY with his devoted family by his side.

H was born January 7, 1952 in Ilion, NY the son of the late Schuyler J. and Virginia M. (Becker) Bennett and was educated locally.

Robert was united in marriage with Robin L. Feldbrugge on January 22, 1972 at the Ilion Methodist Church. They remained true to their vows in sickness and in health throughout their 47 years together.

For 20 years he held the position of Supervisor for the former H.M. Quackenbush in Herkimer.

An outstanding family man, husband, father and grandfather, Bob's life was centered around his loved ones. He enjoyed his close knit neighborhood, which was like an extended family, along with his long time friends who remained supportive throughout his life. Bob had a great sense of humor that he enjoyed sharing with everyone that he knew. He avidly pursued outdoor activities for decades, including hunting, fishing and four wheelin.

Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Robin; two daughters, Lisa L. Matthews and her husband George of Ilion, and Kelly A. Collis and her husband Matthew of Herkimer; a brother, Walter F. (Chip) Bennett and his wife Bonnie of Cedarville; a sister, Melissa M. Zahniser and her husband Dale of Frankfort; four grandchildren, Benjamin and Adam Matthews and Alex and Madelyn Collis; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and in-laws..

He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Schuyler J. (Junior) Bennett, Jr., and Ronald E. Bennett.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Wednesday June 5, 2019 from 6 – 7 pm at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 East Albany St., Herkimer, NY. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to a charity of one’s choice.
