Dolgeville - Mary Lou Chapman, 57 of Dolgeville and formerly of St. Johnsville passed away peacefully on Friday January 4, 2019 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY.
She was born July 25, 1961 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Garfield and Louella (Miller) Lyon. Mary graduated from Stratford High School and furthered her education, graduating from Herkimer County Community College in 2006.
Her marriage to Frank Chapman took place on August 17, 1996 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. Johnsville.
Mary was last employed in the Dietary Department of Little Falls Hospital, retiring due to her illness. At one time she was employed at the former Medical Linens in St. Johnsville.
Mary’s husband, children, and grandchildren were her life, and she wasn’t happy unless she was in their company. She enjoyed cooking for her loved ones and in her leisure she could be found crocheting.
Survivors include her loving husband of 22 years, Frank; a daughter, Janelle Frederick of Dolgeville; two sons, John Doxtader of Dolgeville and Fred Doxtader and fiancé Erica Brooks of Dolgeville; four grandchildren, David Doxtader, Chloe Doxtader, Brianna Brooks, and Ashlyn Strobel; five sisters, Elizabeth Vaughn, Virginia Miles and husband Larry, Margie Gay, Ruth Ann Thurston and husband Harold, and Marion Johnson and husband Kevin; four brothers, Kenneth Lyon and wife Cindy, Richard Lyon and wife Lynn, Albert Lyon and wife Brenda and Ronald Lyon and wife Pamela; and many nieces, nephews, aunts uncles, cousins, and in-laws.
She was pre-deceased by her son, Jeremy Lyon and a brother Larry Lyon.
A memorial service will take place on Friday January 11, 2019 at 7:00 pm from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY 518-568-7040. Mary Lou’s cousin, Pastor Allan Cunningham, will be officiating. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Friday January 11, 2019 from 5:00 pm until the time of the services at 7:00 pm.
