Larry Murphy Obituary

Ilion -  Larry D. Murphy, 73, a former Village of Mohawk and Ilion Police Officer, passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 27, 2018 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica, NY with his loving family by his side.

He was born July 30, 1944 in Compton, California the son of the late Lorena and Glada May (Misner) Murphy and was educated at Anaheim schools.

 Mr. Murphy was a United States Navy veteran, enlisting on July 31, 1961 and was honorably discharged on August 31, 1965 with the rank of FN.

On July 17, 1972 Larry was united in marriage to Phyllis A. Field in Florida.

While residing in California, Larry was employed with Southern California Gas Company in Palm Desert

A man devoted to his family, Larry's life was centered on his loved ones. He always put the needs of others before his own. An avid outdoorsman, Larry enjoyed fishing and hunting. He found much tranquility over the years walking and spending time with his canine companions.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Phyllis; his children, John Murphy of Santa Monica, California, Shawn Murphy of Texas, Chad Murphy of Ilion, and Kelli Del Arosa of Southern California; a sister, Deanna Clark of Indio, California; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousin.

In keeping with the wishes of Larry's family, funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 East Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
