June 26, 2017 8:30 AM

To Mr. & Mrs. Carrig, Rachael, Selena, and the rest of the Carrig family & friends -

It is difficult to find the words to convey my deepest, sincerest condolences to you. I am so deeply sorry for the loss of JJ (Jay), and wish you all of the love, sympathy, and support you may need in the days ahead. Although it had been years since I last saw or spoke to Jay, it is not surprising to hear that he had made a career of helping others. Jay always had a depth, and generosity of spirit, and could easily light up a room with a funny joke, or thoughtful commentary. He was gifted academically, and athletically - and some of my fondest high school memories are playing alongside Jay on the soccer field.

The actress Linda Blair once said, "People always joke that "dog" spells "god" backwards. They should consider that it might be the higher power coming down to see just how well they do, what kind of people they are. The animals are right here, right in front of us. And how we treat these companions is a test." I know that Jay passed this test with flying colors...

With heartfelt condolences -

David (Davey) Armstrong & Melissa Martinez

I am deeply saddened at the loss of such a good man. Jay was and always will be one of my closest friends. We started as work buddies at HARC to growing into such a strong friendship of trust, laughter and love. Jay was a shoulder through many hard times. As a single mom, Jay knew my struggle and bought Christmas presents for all of my children. I never knew how to thank him enough for just being there. I love you Jay... JC... You will be with me always in my heart.

To Jay's family, I am so sorry for you lose. Jay was an amazing person, we played a video game together for over 10 years, many of us that knew him are in shock and very sadden by his passing.
Jay had a way of making every person he met feel special about themselves. He was able to always make everyone laugh and smile. I always looked forward to raid days, because I knew that if I was having a crappy day and if Jay was there he always made it much better. The game will never be the same without. We will miss all his crazy stories, jokes, come backs, movie/tv quotes, recipes. His light will always be missed.

Last semester I told Jay that I couldn't stand the class I was in and I was so bored, so he took upon himself to send me meme's everyday to keep me entertained. I know it seems silly or stupid but I don't think so, because that was the type of person he was. Giving a lot of himself to the world.

One of the things I remember most is how he always helped people and how much he loved Selena, his family and his dog Abe. I send all my love and strength to his family and friends to get through this time.

Jay was a longtime member and senior officer of our online gaming group, the 13th Oriente Hussars of the FWLM, and last night's news of his sudden and unexpected passing has both shocked and deeply saddened us. He was a wonderful friend and comrade, and always good for a hearty laugh. His memory will live on in our group, and we will always remember him and the good times we shared together over the past few years.

We'll see you on the other side some day, Jay!!!
