Little Falls – Jeffrey P. (Jeff) Smith, 56, of Little Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday September 17, 2017 at Little Falls Hospital with his devoted family by his side.

He was born June 20, 1961 in Amsterdam, NY the son of the late Ralph and Susan (Null) Smith, Sr. and was educated in Fort Plain schools.

Jeff was employed at Hales Manufacturing in Frankfort as a machinist for over 17 years. Prior to that he was employed at North Hudson Woodcraft in Dolgeville.

A man dedicated to his family, Jeff’s life was centered around his loved ones. He enjoyed the quality time he spent with his grandchildren. Jeff had a special place in his heart for his canine companions. An avid outdoorsman, Jeff enjoyed fishing and found much relaxation in maintaining and keeping a showroom shine on his vehicles.

Survivors include his children, Jeffrey Smith Jr.of Little Falls, Robert (Erin) Smith of Chittenango, NY, Michelle (Bryan) Burton of Little Falls and Amanda (Russell) Pugliese of Little Falls; 14 grandchildren, John Smith, Devin Stoltz, Hailey Stoltz, Isabella Burton, Zackary Atkinson, Tiffany Pugliese, Jack Pugliese, Jacob Pugliese, Jace Pugliese, Jordan Parker, Shaylee Vogel, Mia Harrington, Jasmine Hurd, Eugene Smith. 1 great grandchild, Trinitee Smith, a sister, Joanne (Gary) Hogan of St. Johnsville; three brothers, James Smith of Oppenheim, Wayne Smith and Helen Bekert of Sharon Springs, and Timothy (Deborah) Smith of St. Johnsville; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his best friend, Jose (Joe) Mont of Little Falls; the mother of his children and his long time friend, Gail Rumrill of Little Falls; and his canine companions, Max, Enzo, Danny and Snowball.

He was pre-deceased by his son, Shawn Smith, grandchildren, Gracie and Russell Pugliese, Jr., a sister, Carol Smith and two brothers, Michael Smith and Ralph Smith, Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday September 21, 2017  at 1:00 pm from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY 518-568-7040. Burial will follow at Ephratah Rural Cemetery, in the Town of Ephratah, NY . The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Thursday September 21, 2017 from 11:00 am until the time of the services. All memorial contributions may be made to the Herkimer Humane Society, PO Box 73, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
