Janet L. (Young) Fitzpatrick

St. Johnsville – Janet L. Fitzpatrick, 83, a long time St. Johnsville resident, passed away peacefully on Monday January 22, 2018 in the comfort of her home with her loving daughter, Elaine, by her side.

She was born December 15, 1934 in the Town of Oppenheim, the daughter of the late Chauncy and Edna (Clemons) Young. She was educated in Oppenheim.

Janet was united in marriage to Leo J. Fitzpatrick, Jr., on September 16, 1950 at St. Patrick’s Church in St. Johnsville. The couple shared a blessed union of 61 years until the passing of Leo on October 2, 2011.

As matriarch of the family, Janet’s life was centered on her loved ones. She enjoyed baking for her family. Her door was always open for her family and friends and there was always a place at her dinner table for anyone who stopped and visited. When you left Janet’s home, you parted with a friendly, fulfilling visit and never left hungry.

Survivors include her children, Randy Fitzpatrick and wife Kathy of St. Johnsville, Sharon Dallman of Schenectady and Elaine Fitzpatrick and special friend Barbara Knight of St. Johnsville; four grandchildren, Janelle Mosher and husband Chris, Chad Fitzpatrick and wife Erica, Jessica Tompson, and James Tompson and wife Tracy; 5 great grandchildren, Lauren Fitzpatrick, Abby Mosher, Zachary Mosher, Carolyn Fitzpatrick and Aiden Fitzpatrick; and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Janet’s wishes, graveside services will be private and held at the convenience of the family at St. Johnsville Cemetery in the spring. There are no calling hours.
