St. Johnsville – Gladys C. Nagele, 96, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday October 24, 2018 in St. Johnsville, NY.
Gladys was born April 8, 1922 in East Stone Arabia, NY, daughter and the youngest child of late Hiram and Anna (Murdock) Christman. She attended the East Stone Arabia country school, District No. 6, and later, the old Canajoharie High School.
Gladys was married to Raymond O. Nagele on November 9, 1946. The couple shared a blessed union of 50 years until the passing of Raymond on March 22, 1997.
She worked in various mills and factories throughout the Mohawk Valley, including the old Beech-Nut Packing Co., Luxuray, and lastly Palatine Dye.
Mrs. Nagele was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in East Stone Arabia.
A kind-hearted woman, Gladys enjoyed visiting with her neighbors and later with the residents at the St. Johnsville Nursing Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Survivors include many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by a long time friend, Ernest Gee of St. Johnsville and many friends at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Besides her husband, she was pre-deceased by her parents, all of her siblings and their spouses, two nieces and eight nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 30, 2018 at 1:00 pm from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St. Johnsville, NY 518-568-7040 with Reverend Cynthia Leonard, pastor of Salem United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at West St. Johnsville Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Raymond. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday October 30, 2018 from 11:00 am until the time of the services at 1:00 pm.
