Everett Quackenbush Obituary

Fayetteville, NC - Everett C. Quackenbush, 83, of Fayetteville, NC and a former longtime Town of Oppenheim resident, passed away peacefully on Monday March 25, 2019 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Fayetteville, NC with his devoted family by his side.

He was born May 10, 1935 in Johnstown, NY the son of the late Everett C. and Alice (LaGrange) Quackenbush, Sr. and was a graduate of Oppenheim - Ephratah High School, class of 1954. He furthered his educated at SUNY Cobleskill where he earned a degree in Agriculture.

Everett was last employed in the Maintenance Department of Helmont Mills in St. Johnsville. He started his working career as a farmer for several years, and also worked at several stores and factories including, Smith's Market in St. Johnsville, E& L Supermarket in Dolgeville, Frenville Leathers in Gloversville and Pan American Tannery in Gloversville.

For several years Everett was supervisor for the Town of Oppenheim as well as Justice of the peace for the Town of Oppenheim. In his earlier years he was a 4-H leader for eight years, and coached the local Babe Ruth Baseball league. At one time he was an active bowler involved in many leagues.

A man devoted to his family, Everett's life was centered around his loved ones. He treasured the quality time he spent with each and everyone. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and gardening. In his leisure he was an avid coin collector and found much relaxation watching sporting events.

Pre-deceased by his Grandson, Matthew Quackenbush, father, Everett C Quackenbush and mother, Alice Quackenbush.

 He is survived by his children Ann(Bill) Bravick of Crestview, FL,  Charles Quackenbush of Gloversville, NY,  Kim Frasier of Herkimer, NY,  James(Melissa) Quackenbush of Oppenheim, NY, survived by his grandchildren Jessica, Joshua, Michael, Corey, Ashlei, Samantha, Emily, and 10 great children and also survived by his brother Lee(Cathy) Quackenbush of  Oppenheim, NY.  A special thanks to Joshua and Ciera Weaver for the care they provided during these last few months.

Funeral services will be held on Friday March 29, 2019 at 1:00 pm from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY 518-568-7040, with Reverend Anthony Bradseth, pastor of Oppenheim United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be later in the spring at Brown Cemetery, Town of Oppenheim, NY. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Thursday March 28, 2019 from 5 - 8 pm. All memorial contribution may me made to the OESJ, Athletic Department, Attn: Athletic Director, 44 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY 13452. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
