Ilion / Herkimer - Edward I. (Ted) Mosher, Sr., 85 of Herkimer and a long time Ilion resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 20, 2017 at St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, NY with his devoted family by his side.

He was born December 15, 1931 in Little Falls the son of Dayton and  Caroline (Harney) Mosher and was educated in Little Falls schools.

His marriage to Joan Cox took place on June 18, 1955 in Herkimer. The couple shared a blessed union of 46 years until the passing of Joan on December 23, 2001.

For 37 years, Ted was employed at the former Union Fork and Hoe in Frankfort, working in the Heat Treatment Room. After his retirement he worked for the Green Thumb in Herkimer at the NY State Thruway in the Maintenance Dept.

Ted was a devoted man to his family. He will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved and respected nature, and past that trait to his children and grandchildren. In his earlier years, Ted enjoyed playing guitar in his band.

He was a member of the Herkimer Polish Club, Past Officer of the Ilion Moose Lodge and a member of the Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club.

Survivors include his children, Edward I. (Tammy) Mosher, Jr., of Ilion, Lorine (Jim) Bellinger of Marcy, Susan (Bill) Grogan of Ilion, Mullinda (John) Vedder of Little Falls, and Betsey (Scott) Blais of Herkimer; 11 grandchildren, Lyndsey (Mike) Haug, Jimmy Bellinger, Edward I Mosher, III, Rob (Danielle Krowicki) Mosher, Ashley (Ryan) Shokey, Michael (Shannon) Grogan, Tyler Mosher, Jennifer (Vinny Desiderio), Andrea (Rick Berowski) Vedder, Scott (Sirena Smith) Blais and Jamie Blais; 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Smith and husband Joe of Florida; in laws, Jennie and Dave LaRock; his friend, Jean Hicks of Mohawk; and several nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Duke and Wally Mosher and two sisters, Gert Gresheck and Emma Singer.

Funeral services will be held on Monday April 24, 2017 at 11:00 am from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 East Albany St., Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500 with Pastor David Hayner of the New Life Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Sunday April 23, 2017 from 2- 4 pm. All memorial contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005 Boston, MA 02241 or the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
