Charles C. Eaker, Sr, 89, was born in the town of Palatine in New York and most recently resided in his home in Barefoot Bay, Florida. He passed away on July 6, 2018 as a result of complications of an accident that occurred at his home.
He had a life long career in the construction industry. This year he received a 65 year award for being a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was an avid golfer and loved to read novels about the Old West.
Survivors include his daughter Lori Ribnikar and son-in-law John Ribnikar, a Grandson John Ribnikar, II and his wife Dayna Ribnikar, his son Charles C. Eaker, Jr and a granddaughter Jennifer Eaker. Two brothers Adelbert Eacker, Jr. and Richard Eacker. He is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Twice widowed he is preceded in death by Hazel Eaker and Ruth Leahy. Also preceded in death are his brothers Dorr Eacker, Elwyn J. Eacker, Orville Eacker, Walter G. Eacker and sisters Roseanne Edwards and Carol E. Dillenbeck
Charles was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Occupation Army after World War II in Japan. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal - Japan.
In keeping with Charles’ wishes funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The family has entrusted Charles’ final arrangements to the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 East Albany Street, Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500.
