Beverly Bergen Obituary

Fort Plain - Beverly M. (Bev) Bergen, 80, a long time town of Minden resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 24, 2018 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, NY with her loving and caring family by her side.

She was born January 19, 1938 in Little Falls the daughter of the late William and Freeda (Gillen) Millington and was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School.

Her marriage to Henry Bergen took place on July 4, 1959 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Plain, NY. The couple shared a blessed union of 34 years until the passing of Henry on May 6, 1993.

At one time Bev was employed at Salada Foods in Little Falls and prior to that she worked at the former Montgomery Wards Department Store.

She was a wonderful mother and the arrival of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was an additional blessing. She cherished these children, and they loved her and remained involved in her life. Bev enjoyed Sunday dinners with her family and spending quality time with her loved ones. In her leisure she enjoyed tending her flower gardens and bird watching. Bev was “The Keeper of the Jar” for the Eatonville Secret Pal Club. In her earlier years, she was active in snowmobiling and spending the summer camping with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Bergen and Bernie Hudson of Mindenville; two sons, William W. Bergen and his wife Tammy of the Town of Danube and Robert Bergen Sr. and his wife Frida of St. Johnsville; a sister Jane Slaboc of Little Falls; a brother, Donald Millington and his wife Millie of Little Falls; five grandchildren, Kayla Brown, William H. Bergen, Jennifer Burdziakowski and husband David, Robert Bergen Jr. and Benjamin Bergen; five great grandchildren, Brady Brown, Allysa Baldwin, Blake Bergen, Cade Bergen and Brenna Burdziakowski. She is also survived by a sister -in -law, Anne Millington of Palatine Bridge; a brother-in-law, Peter Snyder and wife Bridget of Florida; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including s special niece, Pam Spaulding and a special friend, Mary Ann Stowell.

She was pre-deceased by a brother, Leland Millington, brother-in-law, Robert Slaboc and her grandson, Thomas Bergen.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 27, 2018 at 6:00 pm from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY 518-568-7040.  Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery will take place later in the spring. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Tuesday March 27, 2018 from 3:00 pm until the time of the services.
